Professional engineer II

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced licensed structural engineer to take on a senior technical role at Lysaght & Associates. As a PE II, you'll own projects from start to finish — leading design, managing coordination with clients and consultants, mentoring junior staff, and serving as a primary point of contact for the structural discipline on complex work. This is a role for someone who's been around the block, knows how to run a project, and still genuinely enjoys the engineering side of the job.

What You'll Do

  • Lead structural analysis and design across a range of project types and materials — steel, concrete, wood, and masonry — with minimal oversight

  • Manage project schedules, deliverables, and coordination with clients, architects, and consultants from start to finish

  • Direct the BIM team in developing structural models and drawing sets that meet quality and project requirements

  • Prepare and review calculation packages, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents

  • Lead construction administration on assigned projects — RFIs, shop drawings, submittals, and field coordination

  • Conduct and lead field investigations and site evaluations, including documenting existing conditions and coordinating with contractors

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to PE I engineers, EIs, and interns

  • Represent L&A in project meetings as the structural discipline lead

What We're Looking For

  • Active PE license with 5+ years post-licensure experience

  • 10+ years of overall structural engineering experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

  • Strong working knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, NDS, TMS, and their practical application

  • Proficiency in structural analysis software (RISA or similar)

  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects and deadlines without dropping the ball

  • Clear, confident communicator with clients, consultants, and internal team members

  • Someone who takes ownership and follows through — no hand-holding required

What We Offer

  • Quarterly performance bonuses tied to clear, transparent KPIs

  • Clear advancement path toward senior engineering leadership

  • Company-sponsored professional development — conferences, licensing support, training

  • Full benefits package — health insurance, medical expense reimbursement plan (MERP), 401(k) with company match, gym stipend, phone stipend, and PTO

  • A collaborative team that takes the work seriously without taking itself too seriously
